This former bank building is an Edinburgh institution and deservedly so.
The Dome was one of the first big bar, coffee and food places in Edinburgh. Although its in the Fancy Bars it has a maturity and classic feel that is not easily imitated. The building is magnificent, large pillars outside and in, chandeliers, a open bar and light bites area in the main room with the huge glass dome overhead. It feels like it could be a ball room from years gone by.
They also have a garden accessed via Rose Street that is very busy on a sunny day serving food and drinks. The main dome inside also has a more formal dining area that has a good reputation. There is a side bar previously called Frazers that has been made over to be something more modern. Frazers was a fantastic cocktail bar with an excellent display of collectible shakers. It’s still a great spot and despite the missing the cocktails shaker collection they still make a great cocktail.
